Additional district judge of SC/ST court in Mau, Dr Ajay Kumar granted bail to the Singh on furnishing two surety bonds of Rs 50,000 each by the guarantors.

Singh will be released on verification of sureties, the judge said.

Singh, vice-president of BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit, had on July 20, called the BSP chief a prostitute for allegedly selling party tickets to aspiring candidates for next year’s state polls. He was expelled from the party following the incident and the BSP filed an FIR against him.

He was on the run for about a week before being arrested from Bihar’s Buxar on July 29 and lodged in Mau jail.
