IIT-Madras receives record job offers of over 1.4k

IIT-Madras has received a record numbers of job offers of 1,430 for this academic year which makes it the highest since its inception in 1959.

A statement from IIT-M official stated 80% of the students, who had registered for placements, have received offers from 14 global companies and 131 start-ups.
Their average salary is ₹21.48 lakh per annum with the highest salary being offered is USD 250,000, said the statement. A total of 1,199 job offers were received from 380 companies during Phases I and II of campus placements for the 2021-22 academic year.
The previous record of 1,151 job offers was received during the 2018-19 academic year.
Highlighting key factors driving the campus placements, CS Shankar Ram, the outgoing advisor for placements at IIT Madras, said placements reflect a quantifiable outcome for students at an academic institution. “We are thrilled that our students have done exceptionally well in the 2021-22 placements that have led to record-high job offers,” he said. “This is a testament to exceptional curricular training and co-curricular opportunities received by our students at IIT Madras.”
In an extraordinary achievement, IIT-M retained its top spot in the National Institutional Rankings Framework (NIRF) – India Rankings 2022 in the ‘Overall’ category for the fourth consecutive year and in the Engineering category for the seventh consecutive year.
In the ‘Research Institutions’ category IIT Madras retained it number two spot for the second consecutive year. Despite being an engineering institution primarily, IIT-M had improved its position in the Management category, securing a 10th position.
Rakuten Mobile, Honda R&D, Cohesity, Da Vinci Derivatives, Accenture Japan, Hilabs Inc, Quantbox Research, MediaTek, Money Forward, Rubrik, Termgrid and Uber were some of the global companies that offered jobs.
