Japanese tourist raped in Kerala, one arrested

The 35-year-old tourist was rushed to a government hospital after she was found injured and bleeding in her hotel room.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for raping a Japanese tourist in Kerala’s Kovalam district, police said.

The 35-year-old tourist was rushed to a government hospital after she was found injured and bleeding in her hotel room on Friday, a few hours after she arrived in the coastal town, police said.

Teja, a resident of neighbouring Karnataka, was arrested the next day on the tourist’s complaint. His family runs a handicrafts shop in Kovalam.
