Kanwariya run over by truck in UP, irate pilgrims damage 5 vehicles

A ‘kanwariya’ was killed when a truck hit his motorcycle in Mungrabadshahpur area here, triggering protest by fellow pilgrims who went on rampage and damaged five vehicles, police said on Sunday.

The accident took place near Puraupur village late last night.

Agitated over the incident, kanwariyas blocked road and damaged three buses and two trucks, police said.

They also gheraoed the police station and damaged vehicles of sub Divisional magistrate and Additional Superintendent of Police.
