Vidhan Bhavan, Maharashtra’s legislature complex, at Nariman Point in Mumbai, was evacuated following a bomb threat on Thursday morning ahead of the assembly proceedings amid the ongoing budget session. The proceedings of the legislative assembly were to start at 9.45am, and the legislative council at 10am.

Legislative council chairperson Ram Shinde said that evacuation was carried out after an email threatened to blow up Vidhan Bhavan, the Bombay high court, the Metro network, and a bank. He added that the police, bomb detection and disposal squad with sniffer dogs were inspecting the complex.
Joint police commissioner (law and order) Satyanarayan termed the threat a hoax. The threat was the latest in a series of such hoaxes across the country.
