Gautam Budh Nagar Police commissioner Alok Singh said Tyagi’s three aides were also held. “A total of four arrests have been made...Tyagi is now being brought to Gautam Budh Nagar [Noida] under high security.”

Tyagi was booked on Friday after he was caught on camera assaulting and abusing the woman following a row over removal of trees he allegedly planted in a common area of their residential society.

A video showing Tyagi, who identified himself as a national executive member of the BJP’s Kisan Morcha and national co-coordinator of Yuva Samiti, abusing and heckling the woman went viral on social media. The BJP has maintained Tyagi was not a member of the party.

On Monday night, Gangster Act was slapped on Tyagi. Tyagi was earlier booked under Indian Penal Code’s Sections 354 (outraging modesty of woman and assault), 447 (criminal trespass), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
