A 35-year-old man allegedly hacked his elderly father and wife to death with an axe in Jharkhand's Lohardaga district on Monday morning, police said.
The incident took place at Sengra Toli village within the Bhandra Police Station limits, when the man attacked his 60-year-old father Surendra Oraon and wife Sujita Oraon, aged 27, after an altercation over injury to his daughter, a senior officer said.
"Sandeep Oraon, the accused, has been arrested. The bodies of both the deceased were sent for post-mortem examinations at Sadar Hospital. The three-year-old injured girl has been undergoing treatment," Lohardaga Superintendent of Police (SP) Sadique Anwar Rizvi said.
The axe used in the crime was seized from the crime spot, he said.
The police are interrogating the accused, and an investigation into the case is underway.
