Parliament monsoon session Highlights: Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill passed in Lok Sabha
Both the Houses reconvened for the monsoon session of Parliament on Thursday, a day after the Opposition moved a no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi-led government in the Lok Sabha. On Wednesday, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan admitted the no-trust motion and said it would be taken up on Friday for discussion and voting. Parliamentary affairs minister Ananth Kumar expressed confidence that the government would win the vote.There was apprehension of disruptions on issues such as mob lynchings but both the Houses took up the listed business as routine. Rajya Sabha passes the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, 2013 and the Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill was passed in the Lower House of the Parliament.Here are the highlights:
