Amid the lingering confrontation between the Congress and the BJP over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on his predecessor Manmohan Singh ‘colluding with Pakistan’ to impact the Gujarat assembly elections results, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have a list of business for Wednesday.
The Upper House, which passed two bills on Tuesday despite the disruptions in the initial hours of the proceedings, has listed the long-pending bill to amend the NABARD act.(Catch LIVE updates from Parliament here)
The Bill allows the central government to increase NABARD’s capital to Rs 30,000 crore. The NABARD provides fund for rural and agriculture sector.
The Upper House will also take up The State Banks (Repeal and Amendment) Bill. This bill follows the cabinet approval for allowing the SBI to acquire some subsidiaries.
The government will also move another bill in the Rajya Sabha to declare the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy to be an institution of national importance.
The Lower House has three government bills on its agenda, including the contentious forest rights amendment bill, which seeks to allow cutting and transportation of bamboo in non-forest areas without the permit of state governments.
The Centre also wants to pass The Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Amendment Bill, which will strengthen the hands of the government to take action against unauthorised occupants in government buildings.
