UPA chairperson and former Congress president Sonia Gandhi said on Thursday Rahul Gandhi was her boss too and urged MPs to work with dedication, loyalty and enthusiasm with him.
Speaking at the Congress parliamentary party meet, Sonia Gandhi said, “We have elected a new Congress president and on your behalf and on my own, I wish him all the very best. He is now my boss too — let there be no doubt about that — and I know that all of you will work with him with the same dedication, loyalty and enthusiasm as you did with me.”
Sonia Gandhi served as the Congress chief for a record 19 years before handing over the reins of the party to her son Rahul Gandhi on December 16, 2017.
Having been the driving force behind the Congress since 1988, the 71-year-old Sonia – who underwent a successful surgery abroad in 2011 – delegated most of her responsibilities to her son Rahul in the past few years.
