Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin created a stir on Monday when he tweeted about “234 jobs” opening up in Tamil Nadu, an apparent reference to the change of guard in the state that has triggered fears of political uncertainty.
“To all the youngsters in TN, 234 job opportunities to open up shortly,” the bowler tweeted,referring to 234 assembly segments in Tamil Nadu.
The ruling AIADMK members had on Sunday picked VK Sasikala the leader of the legislature party, clearing the way for her to take over as the chief minister.
But, the decision has not gone down well with a section of public as well as the Opposition, who have said the people didn’t vote for Saiskala, a close confidante of late CM Jayalalithaa.
“Guys please cool it down, it is a job creation drive. Nothing to do with Politics,” Ashwin said in his second tweet, a veiled reference to possibility of fresh elections.
Saiskala’s elevation has been questioned by many people. Former Union minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram tweeted on Monday morning, “It is the right of AIADMK MLAs to elect their leader. It is the right of the people to ask if the leader deserves to be CM.”

{{/usCountry}}Opposition DMK’s working president MK Stalin said on Sunday people voted for the government to be headed by J Jayalalithaa. “One thing is certain that the government -- in its present form -- is clearly one that does not have the explicit legitimacy of having been elected by the people,” he said.
Sasikala, who has never fought an election, is expected to be sworn-in on February 9, party sources said.
O Panneerselvam, whose resignation was accepted by governor Vidyasagar Rao on Monday, took over as the chief minister in December following the death of Jayalalithaa.
