The middle-aged man who scaled the wall of the Delhi airport periphery, creating a security scare on Thursday morning, wanted to board a train to go back to his home town in Madhya Pradesh. The man -- a labourer -- had come to Delhi for work but was looking for a train to go back.
“He had no idea where he was going. He saw a wall and thought there is a railway station on the other side. He went unnoticed as the wall on that side is not made of concrete.The Perimeter Intruder Detection System (PIDS) is also not installed on that particular portion,” said a senior police officer.
Security forces said that they have raised the matter with the airport operator many times.
“Around 300 metres of the area near the National Highway 8, doesn’t have PIDS. We have a watchtower there and the person posted there has been suspended,” said a CISF official.
Sources said that the intrusion would have gone undetected had the person exited from the same point.

“The PIDS raised alarm when he was exiting. We had a difficult time looking for him and formed teams to nab him. His CCTV footage was circulated among staff and few minutes later he has caught at gate number 10,” the official added.

{{/usCountry}}Delhi police have registered a case and arrested him. He was interrogated by IB and his family members in MP were also questioned but nothing suspicious was found.
