The official added that on the intervening night of July 22 and 23, infiltrators were intercepted by the troops. A gunfight erupted, forcing the “infiltrators to flee back”.

“In the ensuing fire-fight one soldier sustained a gunshot wound, to which he unfortunately succumbed later,” the official said.
