Tigress RBT-124 (Riddhi), was spotted with a cub in the Nal Valley area of Rajasthan’s Ranthambore Tiger Reserve on Saturday, confirming her third litter, forest officials said.
Divisional forest officer (DFO), Ranthambore Tiger Reserve-I, Manas Singh said the department is closely monitoring the tigress and her cub to ensure their safety and well-being.
The sighting was recorded during routine patrolling and monitoring by the forest department. Officials said continuous surveillance is being maintained to track their movement and ensure adequate protection.
Riddhi had previously given birth to a cub in 2022 and three cubs in May 2023. The 2022 cub was first sighted with her in Zone 3 in November that year but later went missing.
Singh said the healthy sighting of the cub is a positive sign for tiger conservation efforts in Ranthambore.
With the latest addition, the tiger population in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve has reached 77, comprising 25 tigers, 23 tigresses and 29 cubs.
The sighting has renewed hopes among conservationists and wildlife officials, who view it as another success for the reserve’s ongoing conservation efforts.
