The police arrested two youths from Sirmaur in connection with Shimla double murder that came to light on Friday, when two bodies were recovered from Shoghi, 15km from Shimla.

A team of Sirmaur police raided a house in Shambhuvala in Sirmaur and nabbed the two accused on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Naveen Chand, 32, and Chandar Prakash, 19, both from Sirmaur. Police also found a vehicle at the crime spot. Sources said Naveen drove the vehicle to the spot and some unidentified persons attacked him and the other youth with sticks.

They had reportedly come to supply wheat flour and were on way back to Sirmaur when they were attacked by unidentified persons.

Source said the victims would have been carrying around Rs 2.5 lakh at the time of the incident, which was not found by the police. They are suspecting that loot could be a motive behind the incident.

“The accused are brothers. This can be a case of family or business enmity,” said a policeman.

Police have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) and the accused have been brought to Shimla for further interrogation.
