Rescue operations are underway in Uttarakhand's Dharali and Sukhi Top even as over 24 hours have passed since cloudburst in the Uttarkashi district. Videos shared by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) showed personnel engaged in the search for flash flood victims even as rain continued in Uttarkashi on Wednesday.

A search for over 100 missing people is on in Uttarakhand following a cloudburst that triggered a flash flood in the area.

Rain continued to batter the area a day later as well, with roads damaged at multiple locations on NH-34 (Uttarkashi–Gangotri axis).

A day after the cloudburst, the water level in river Ganga rose to near the danger mark in Haridwar following continuous rainfall. With rain battering around 11 districts in Uttarakhand, the water level in Ganga crossed the danger mark.

Yesterday, its level was around 293, which is the warning level here, and today it has risen to near the danger mark. However, it has not yet reached the danger mark. But with the way it is raining, it will remain close to the danger mark today," irrigation department official Vikas Tyagi told news agency ANI.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a disaster management meeting at the State Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to assess the cloudburst and flash flood. Earlier today, he visited the Joshiyada helipad in Uttarkashi and assessed the areas affected by the cloudburst.

He also spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone and apprised him about the rescue and relief operations.
