In 70 years, India has charted an incredible journey.

We established a democracy with universal adult franchise in a country with overwhelming poverty and illiteracy and managed to feed and sustain one of the largest populations in the world.

In this period, the country has witnessed some tumultuous moments, experienced festering problems and survived wars.

Most of what we know about this comes from books, television and historical records. But how different would it be if we tried to understand the country’s journey through the lives of individuals?
