Security forces fired at angry anti-monarchy protesters in a town in eastern Nepal on Sunday, and at least one man was killed, an official said.

The death is the third in the ongoing pro-democracy demonstrations across Nepal. The newest casualty occurred in Banepa, 32 kilometers east of the national capital Katmandu, where a large crowd of protesters was shouting slogans and hurling stones at security forces, a local official said. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to talk to the media.
