At least 10 people were killed and 25 injured when two buses collided in Barnala district of Punjab, police said on Saturday.

A state-run bus was going towards Faridkot from Barnala, about 150 km from Chandigarh, when its driver took a sharp turn to save a two-wheeler rider. He hit a private mini bus coming from the opposite direction on Friday night.

Police said the accident occurred near Cheema Jodhpur village. The two-wheeler driver escaped unhurt.
The dead included a woman, Senior Superintendent of Police Shiv Kumar told IANS. Six of the 25 injured were in critical condition.
