A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in the Murad Nagar area of Ghaziabad on Holi (Thursday). Several such cases have been reported from the district in the past two months.
The accused, an 18-year-old youth, lured the girl to an isolated area in Murad Nagar and raped her, police said. The accused is at large. The SSP has ordered registration of an FIR in the matter.
“We talked to the victim. Her statement suggests that she was raped. We have sent her for medical examination and ordered an FIR be lodged against the accused,” said SSP Raghubir Lal.
The girl and the accused belong to the same community. After the incident, their families tried to resolve the matter, but a neighbour informed the police.
A few days ago, another 10-year-old girl was lured by a man who tried to rape her in the Harsaon area of Kavi Nagar, police said. The accused was nabbed by locals and handed over to the police.
On February 23, another 10-year-old girl was allegedly lured and raped in Mohan Nagar. On February 8, an eight-year-old girl was lured by her neighbour who raped and threw her from an over-bridge on railway tracks near Chipiyana, police said.
