A TRUCK (an Eicher) laden with logs ran over a scooter near the head post office of Mhow killing a ten-year-old girl on the spot and seriously injuring her 12-year-old sister on Wednesday evening.
Subedar R C Pandey, the religious teacher of Military College of Telecommunications Engineering (MCTE), was going on his scooter with his two daughters Nidhi (12) and Riya (10) from the post office towards MCTE when the truck (no MP09 K 8745) laden with logs coming from the Civil Hospital side dashed against the scooter.
Subedar Pandey was thrown off the vehicle while his daughters and the scooter were dragged below the truck, crushing Riya’s head. Nidhi received serious injuries on her head and other parts of the body while Riya died on the spot. All three were immediately taken to the Military Hospital. The people present on the site caught the driver and beat him up.
