In a bid to strengthen the public transport system in the city, the Haryana transport department has decided to launch 100 buses fitted with safety features like global positioning system (GPS).
According to the director general of state transport department, Arun Kumar, there would be an addition of 100 buses to the existing fleet, which includes 40 semi-low-floor and 20 air-conditioned ones.
He said that these buses would be fitted with GPS. Theses buses will be connected with the Metro service and work as feeder buses, he added.
“The move will bring relief to thousands of passengers, who depend upon public transport to reach their destinations,” said Kumar. The buses will run on city roads in four months.
Last year, the department claimed of launching 400 buses for Grugaon and NCR towns. But the reality is that the
project never saw the light of the day. Kumar said that due to some legal issues this project could not be implemented
and might take another year.
Initially, there would be about 10 intra-city bus routes. The frequency of new buses will be of 10 minutes. There would be three routes in new Gurgaon, which will be in the form of a loop.

{{/usCountry}}Similarly, three other routes will be in old Gurgaon. One trunk route will be from Manesar to Delhi border toll plaza and to Karol Bagh in Delhi.
The transport department would also request the district administration to provide land at Rajiv Chowk for parking. Kumar said that parking of these buses will be at Sector 29 where the transport department has three acres of
land.
