They, instead, were willing to furnish cash surety, a plea rejected by the Magadi court judge late on Sunday evening.

Local surety means the arrested seeking bail must cite a local contact person who should stand guarantee for the detainee.

They were arrested on Sunday from the premises at Chunchanakuppe near Dodda Aaaladamara, in Ramanagara District, some 25 kms from Bangalore, during a raid by the police.

The arrested, including 22 women, are thought to be part of a social networking group coming from countries such as Yemen, Iran, Sudan, Germany and France.
