Maharashtra government has allowed 11 private hospitals in Mumbai to treat swine flu cases, Health Secretary Sharvaree Gokhale said in Mumbai on Friday.
Four private hospitals in Pune and a hospital in Navi Mumbai have also been allowed to treat swine flu patients, she told reporters at Mantralaya.
The hospitals include Bombay Hospital, Breach Candy, Hinduja, Kokilaben Ambani, Nanavati, Hiranandani, Wockhardt and Inlak hospital in Mumbai, she said.
Tamiflu tablets would be provided to patients by these hospitals free of cost, Gokhale said. The state government received 2.5 lakh Tamiflu tablets from the Centre on Thursday, she said.
So far, 1,00,466 persons in the state have been screened for swine flu and 678 cases were confirmed positive, and of the positive cases, 584 have been treated and discharged, she said.
Of the 18 deaths in the state, it has been confirmed that 12 were swine flu cases and test reports of four deceased patients were yet to come, she said. Two patients died of other casues, she said.
