113 communal incidents in May-June, 15 killed

A total of 113 communal incidents have taken place in various parts of the country during May-June in which 15 people were killed and 318 others were injured, Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

A total of 113 communal incidents have taken place in various parts of the country during May-June in which 15 people were killed and 318 others were injured, Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

Minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju said 27 communal incidents have taken place in Uttar Pradesh in the two month period in which six people were killed and 78 others were injured.

Replying to a written question of Congress member Madhusudan Mistry, Rijiju said, in Maharashtra, there were 20 incidents of communal violence in which one person was killed and 30 others were injured during the said period.

There were 11 communal incidents in Gujarat in which 2 people were killed and 23 injured, there were 11 communal incidents in Madhya Pradesh in which 3 people lost their lives and 31 inured in the two months period, he said.

The Minister said Karnataka saw 11 incidents of communal violence in which 24 people were injured, there were 10 such incidents in Bihar where 1 person was killed and 44 injured and 10 communal incidents in Rajasthan in which 2 people were killed and 29 others injured.
