120 drunk drivers penalised

In a drive conducted since on Wednesday over 120 drivers were caught for driving under the influence of alcohol, traffic police said.

Of the persons caught 74 were convicted to various prison terms ranging from one day to a month by a magistrate’s court, they said.

One person was sentenced to a month’s simple imprisonment.

Many persons had their driving licenses suspended and one person had his license permanently revoked as this was not the first time he was caught driving under the influence of alcohol, officials said.
