Police said the bomb strapped to a bicycle, kept between a computer and a mobile shop at Bargolla Chariali, about 100 m from Tezpur police station, exploded at around 2.45 pm.

The injured included three women and a 12-year-old boy.

Among the five critically injured, two of them -- a father and a son -- have been shifted to Guwahati Medical College Hospital, while the others were taken to Tezpur Civil Hospital.

A blast has occurred in this relatively militancy-free district after a gap of nearly three years. The last blast was triggered in 2005 near Ganesh Mandir here in which an army official was killed and three persons were injured.
