14 injured in J&K grenade attack

Terrorists hurled a grenade towards a moving security vehicle in the Main Chowk of Sopore.

At least 14 people were injured when terrorists hurled a grenade on a security vehicle at Sopore town of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, official sources said.

Terrorists hurled a grenade towards a moving security vehicle in the Main Chowk of Sopore, 55 kms from here, at around 4.15 pm, the sources said.

The explosive device missed the intended target and exploded on the road, causing injuries to 14 pedestrians.

All the injured were rushed to hospital and the condition of two of them was stated to be serious, the sources said.

Police assisted by security forces immediately cordoned off the whole area and a hunt has been launched to nab the terrorist involved in the attack.

No terrorist outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.
