The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended 14 officials including two provincial service officers in the land scam case.

The scam comes close on the heels of alleged irregularities in allotment of residential plots in Noida and Gomti Nagar in the state capital.

Official sources said that Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had ordered an inquiry into the matter by Housing Secretary Rajeev Kumar, asking him to complete the inquiry within a week.

The alleged scam came to light when some people approached the LDA officials for mutation of some residential plots in Jankipuram scheme in Lucknow on the basis of registry papers, the sources said.
