15 killed in Navi Mumbai wall collapse

The toll in the wall collapse tragedy in a village near Navi Mumbai on Saturday rose to 15 with the recovery of more bodies.

The toll in the wall collapse tragedy in a village near Navi Mumbai on Saturday rose to 15 with the recovery of more bodies.

The incident occurred when an under-construction wall collapsed at around 2 pm, burying the workers underneath in Kothari village under the Taloja police station, near Navi Mumbai, 60 km from here.

"Fifteen bodies have been recovered from the mishap site. All the victims were construction workers," Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Ramrao Wagh said.

"We fear some five or six workers may still be buried under the debris. Police and fire brigade personnel are carrying out rescue operations," Wagh said.
