Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Saturday flagged off first fleet of low-floor buses in Faridabad.
Hooda also enjoyed a brief bus ride in the city.
The buses will start plying from tomorrow.
The chief minister also announced 15 days’ free ride for women on these buses.
Anand Mohan Sharan, secretary (Transport), Haryana, said 120 more buses were to arrive in a couple of months.
The new fleet of AC and non-AC buses will connect Faridabad with Gurgaon and New Delhi.
“In all, 150 buses are to be introduced in Faridabad, out of which 15 were flagged off on Saturday,” said Sharan. “The remaining buses will start plying once they reach here.”
The maximum fare for the AC buses has been fixed at Rs 55, between Ballabgarh and ISBT bus stand in New Delhi. The maximum fare for the non-AC buses is Rs 45.
Out of 150 buses sanctioned for Faridabad, 45 will be air-conditioned, while the rest of 105 buses will be non-AC. The bus service in Faridabad is being strengthened under the JNNURM scheme.
