15 sailors rescued from sinking vessel

As many as 15 crewmembers were rescued, while one of them was still missing after a vessel belonging to Jamsalaya here, sank near Tuna port in Kutch district, police said in Jamnagar on Friday.

As many as 15 crewmembers were rescued, while one of them was still missing after a vessel belonging to Jamsalaya here, sank near Tuna port in Kutch district, police said in Jamnagar on Friday.

The incident took place yesterday near Moti Bari in Mandvi taluka of Kutch district, they said.

According to police, the vessel transporting goats and sheep to Dubai got caught in turbulent water of the Arabian Sea and started sinking.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at the Mandvi and Tuna port launched a rescue operation and managed to save 15 sailors, while one was still missing, they said.

The vessel named 'Dariyay Daulat' had a capacity of carrying 150 tonnes of good and was worth over Rs 30 lakh, police said.

They said that search was on for the missing sailor.
