The two towers, which comprise 170 flats, are being built by M/s Ultra Home Construction Private Limited at Nyay Khand near Makanpur. The flats carry a proposed price of anything between Rs. 30 lakh and Rs. 40 lakh per unit.

"The towers have been constructed in violation of the map layouts and compounding map layouts. The area where towers are being constructed was meant for development of 'convenient shop' and 'landscaped green area.' But the builder started construction activity, which our officials failed to bring to our notice," Santosh Kumar Yadav, GDA vice-chairman said.

The authority on Saturday evening also suspended four of its junior engineers, besides suspending an assistant engineer and a clerk for their alleged failure to detect the illegal construction.

Senior officials of the authority also ordered the engineering department staff to check all construction activities that flouted norms under GDA's jurisdiction area.

"We have asked all zones to conduct surveys in their respective areas and find out where there are gross violations in construction. Physical verification of construction will also be done. Any deviations will be dealt with strictly as per laws," said Yadav.

Builder's version
Director of M/s Ultra Home Construction Private Limited said their representation would soon be placed before the GDA with the intervention of the Builders' Association and a remedy would be reached at the earliest.

"Our constructions are under the limits of compounding and purchasable-FAR available to us. We have also maintained around 75% open space area in the project," the director said.
