2 ministers, Rabri take lead, resign

The RJD members of Parliament and Bihar legislature have started handing over resignation letters to party chief and Railways Minister Lalu Prasad to register protest against the anti-north Indian violence.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) members of Parliament and Bihar legislature have started handing over resignation letters to party chief and Railways Minister Lalu Prasad to register protest against the anti-north Indian violence by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.

Union ministers Premchand Gupta and Akhilesh Singh are among those who have resigned. Prasad’s wife and Leader of Opposition in Bihar assembly Rabri Devi, too, has put in papers.

By Tuesday, more than half of the members of Parliament, and 35 of the 55 MLAs and eight legislative council members had submitted resignations, spokesman Shyam Rajak said. All the parliamentarians and legislators have to submit resignations by November 15, the date set by Prasad.
