2 more schools shut down

Swine flu has finally hit city schools.

While a Class 2 student of Dhirubhai Ambani School at Bandra-Kurla Complex was diagnosed with the H1N1 virus on Saturday, two students of the JB Vachcha School in Dadar (East).

A meeting between civic officials and school principals is scheduled for Sunday. A decision to shut schools will be taken at the meeting.

“The Ambani school student had travelled abroad some time back and health officials suspect the child could have contracted the virus there,” said a spokesperson of the school, adding that the student was now in a stable condition.

The school has decided to shut the entire school for a week from Monday.

At Apeejay School, Nerul, a 16-year-old student of Class 12 had tested positive for the virus on Friday.

The Koparkhairne resident, who has been admitted to the Kasturba Hospital, is stable.

Apeejay School, Nerul, has stopped conducting lectures after the case was detected in their junior college on Friday.
