The new urban PHCs at Sambal and Bharatnagar of Udhampur district were inaugurated by district development commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal, who was the chief guest on the occasion.

Mudgal said that the main objective of opening these centres is to make health care services more accessible to the urban people at their doorsteps. She called upon the people in these areas to take advantage of the government health care facilities. On the occasion, chief medical officer Arun Sharma told the DDC that these PHCs would start functioning immediately as the doctors begin attending out-patient cases. He added that the urban mission will help improve the health indicators of urban poor.

He informed that PHCs are located close to the national highway. Each urban PHCs would have one medical officer, lab technician and pharmacist for smooth functioning of the PHCs.
