2 school officials convicted for sexual harassment of HM

Two officials of a Tamil Nadu government-aided school in the district have been sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment by a court for sexually harassing the school headmistress.

Two officials of a Tamil Nadu government-aided school in the district have been sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment by a court for sexually harassing the school headmistress.

Raja Selvaraj (68) and Stanley Jones (48), correspondents (administrators) of the elementary school at Gobichettipalayam were also ordered by the local Judicial Magistrate to pay a fine of Rs 4,000 each for delaying the salary of the headmistress.

The Prosecution case was that the two had been sexually harassing the 45-year old headmistress in 2005. Unable to bear such harassment, she lodged a complaint with the All-Women Police Station in Gobichettipalayam on December 1, 2005.

A chargesheet was filed by police against the two correpondents and at the end of the trial, Judicial Magistrate Gobichettipalayam yesterday pronounced the verdict.
