Two SGPC members from Voltoha in Tarn Taran district Jagjit Singh Bhullar and Master Shingara Singh on Thursday joined Congress.
They joined the party in presence of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Amarinder Singh.
Later, in an interaction with the reporters, Amarinder Singh, who recently took over as the state unit chief, claimed that there were several other leaders and workers keen to join the party and they will be welcome.
About the SGPC members, the former chief minister clarified that while the Congress as a political party had nothing to do with the SGPC as it was a religious body, the SGPC members had every right to have their own political views when it comes to mainstream politics.
Singh claimed there were several other leaders from different political parties, particularly ruling SAD who were keen to join the party.
He, however, said while everybody is welcome to join Congress but it has to be unconditional and no committment will be made for adjustment like giving nomination for 2012 state assembly polls.
Asked to comment on Congress MP from Gurdaspur Pratap Singh Bajwa's reported bid to emerge as the Congress' face of the Majha and Doaba region comprising areas including Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Jalandhar, Singh said while other senior leaders including Leader of Opposition, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, MPs Manish Tewari and M S Kaypee had met him after he took over as PCC President, Bajwa was yet to do so.

{{/usCountry}}In an apparent criticism of Bajwa, he condemned those leaders who "divide Punjab into Majha, Doaba and other regions. Punjab is a small state and we should all work to unite it".
Amarinder Singh said that he had met the party leaders here recently to take their suggestion on constituting the new team of state unit office bearers, which would be sent to the Congress high command for approval.
To a question, Amarinder Singh alleged the SAD-BJP government had failed on all fronts and he would soon undertake an extensive tour of the state to "expose their misdeeds".
Amarinder Singh said that he had called a meeting of the state party unit here on December 7.
