A 65-YEAR-OLD lady was robbed of her jewellery this morning by two youths, who, posing as cops, asked her why she was wearing so much jewellery while walking alone on the road.
They advised her to keep her jewellery in a handkerchief and thinking that the ‘cops’ were giving her good advice, she removed her ornaments and kept them in a handkerchief. The duo then went away in a scooter. When the lady reached home she found that six gold bangles and a gold chain were missing.
The incident occurred at Mahesh Nagar in the morning at around 8.30 am. Sudha Jain, wife of a cloth merchant, was returning home at 231 Mahesh Nagar after visiting the Digamber Jain temple at Rajmohalla.
When she was walking down the lane between Rajmohalla and Antim Chouraha, two youths accosted her. Posing as men from the CID department they chided her saying that she should not be wearing so much jewellery at a time when large number of thefts and loots were taking place in the city. They even told her that if a loot or theft takes place, it gives the police a bad name!
When the lady realised she had lost her ornaments, she told her husband and lodged a complaint at the Malharganj police station. Since the lady had not suspected that the youths had evil designs, she had not even noted the number of the scooter. However, she told police that one of the youths was in his early thirties while the other in his early twenties.

THE MANPUR police have registered a case of murder in connection with the body of the youth that was found at the Sitlamata Falls on March 7.
At first, the police could not identify the body, but later it was identified as that of Mukesh (25), resident of Rampuria Bujarg village. His father is a chowkidar of the village.
The postmortem report revealed that he had been murdered. Police said that Mukesh had gone out with four of his friends and did not return home after that. Police suspect that his friends might be behind the murder.
They are questioning one of them, while three others have fled from their homes.
