Twenty persons, who were suspected to be travelling to Iraq via Dubai, have been detained at the airport in Chennai.

Airport sources said even though they had valid passports and other related documents to travel to Dubai, the immigration officials detained them when they disclosed about their travel to Iraq.

The detained persons hailing from southern districts of the state said they had paid Rs one lakh each to the agents for their travel, the sources said.
However, airport authorities did not allow them to board the aircraft due to travel restrictions on going to Iraq for employment.
