20 killed in Sudan military plane crash

A Sudanese military plane blew up when it crash-landed in the south of the country on Saturday, killing 20 people on board, a military official told reporters.

A Sudanese military plane blew up when it crash-landed in the south of the country on Saturday, killing 20 people on board, a military official told reporters.

"Of the 20 killed, seven were crew members and the 13 others were soldiers," said the official from the army spokesman's office, identified only as Sawarmi.

The military plane spun off the runway and exploded after one of its tyres burst upon landing in the town of Aweil in Bahr al-Ghazal province, he added.
