The wedding took place on Wednesday in Manali in the presence of family members from both sides, with the couple donning traditional Sikh clothes.

Rajendra Singh, who belongs to a Sikh family but has cut his hair, runs a cafe in Manali, where he met Serah Hide in 2005 and fell in love with her.

"I would frequent Rajendra's cafe and we fell for each other and decided to marry," said Hide.

Hide returned to Britain as her visa expired late in 2005 but came back to Manali and they decided to tie the knot.

Manali and the surrounding scenic Kullu valley have been popular with Western tourists for decades. There have been many cases of foreigners marrying locals and staying back in the area.
