In a suspected case of food poisoning, 22 students of a primary school fell ill after consuming midday meal at Kusuria in Nadia district, official sources said on Sunday.

Besides students, a guardian also fell ill after having the afternoon meal at Sishu Shiksha Kendra on Saturday.

The students complained of eye irritation, stomach ache, dizziness and started to vomit after their meals, sources said, after which they were taken to Ranaghat Sub-divisional Hospital.
Doctor Bivash Roy at the hospital said they were suffering from food poisoning, but are stable now.
Meanwhile, a teacher at the school claimed that all hygiene standards were maintained to prepare the meal.
