23 killed as bus catches fire in TN

Twenty three persons were charred to death last night when the private bus they were travelling in plunged down a bridge and caught fire near Kaveripakkam, about 40 km from Vellore, police said.

The bus, on its way to Tiruppur from Chennai, fell down the bridge as the driver lost control, police said.

One of the 24 passengers travelling in the bus managed to escape, they said.

Some of the bodies of victims were charred beyond recognition.
