A 23-year-old youth drowned in a lake near Aarey Colony in Goregaon on Sunday evening. This is the third case of drowning in two days.
According to the police, Sandesh Kamble and Rajesh Khande (25), both residents of Gautam Nagar in Goregaon, were drunk when they went to take bath in a nearby lake.
Due to rains, the water current was strong and they got stuck, the locals told the police. While Khande managed to pull himself out, Kamble was unsuccessful, the locals added.
“After six hours of search, our team managed to bring out Kamble from the water,” said fire brigade official.
On Monday morning, Prabhu Gavankar (45) an electrician from Powai drowned while swimming in Powai on the occasion of Gatari.
Two teenagers from Andheri had drowned in Versova beach on Sunday, where they had gone to immerse some rice.
