26-yr-old with 58-yr-old son

It can happen only in India. Believe it or not, a 26-year-old man has been enrolled in the supplementary voters' list of a Punjab village as father of 27 children. And, hold your breath, his eldest child is 58 years old.

There's more. In another incident, administration records registered 45 new voters in a four-room house, No. 343-A, at Khui Khera village in just one year. Of these, 27 names are listed in or with the name of Rajesh Kumar, who just 19 years old and is "father of nine children".

And if this is not enough, one Rakesh Kumar, who has 10 children, the eldest being 40 years old, is shown to be a son of Rajesh Kumar. In 2003, this house had just eight voters.

Khui Khera sarpanch Prem Kumar Kularia has complained to the deputy commissioner. Fazilka SDM Upjit Brar said he would look into the matter and take necessary action. It is evident lack of proper verification by poll staff led to the error.
