THE WOES of Shiksha Mitras did not end with the Teacher’s Day police assault on them. Now, cases have been registered against them for disturbing peace, hooliganism, resorting to violence and engaging in anti-government activities. As many as 27 Shiksha Mitras were arrested while police are looking for seven others, including Gazi Imam Aala, State president of UP Prathmik Shiksha Mitra Sangh, for resorting to violence.
Those who have been arrested include Rakesh Mitra, Vikas Chaurasiya and others.
Sources said in its report, the police have made some passing reference of Jan Morcha convenor Raj Babbar and MLA Kaushal Kishore for instigating the crowd. But no case has been registered against them as they had left the scene hours before the violence broke out.
On the other hand, Shiksha Mitras claimed that dozens of their injured activists were being treated at the Balrampur Hospital. Several others have left for their homes.
A day after the police attack, Shiksha Mitras pledged to dethrone the ruling Samajwadi Party and would convince masses at their respective areas not to vote for the SP during the forthcoming election. The government had crossed all limits and become insensitive to the problems faced by them, a leader of the group said.
A number of BJP leaders including Surya Pratap Sahi, Ramapati Shastri, Congress leader Jagdambika Pal and others have assured them to fight for their cause.

{{/usCountry}}Visibly pained Gazi Imam said: “Our sole aim will now be to tell the people about the police atrocity on us. We will take the campaign to the tehsils, blocks and village level. We will try and convince voters to think about this attack before casting their votes.”
All through the day heavy police remained deployed at the dharna sthal and Shiksha Mitras were shooed away as they tried to converge there.
Later, many of the Shiksha Mitras, who have taken shelter at Darulsafa A-Block, held several rounds of meetings with leaders of political parties barring the SP.
Meanwhile, Education Department officials criticized Shiksha Mitras for the manner in which they fought for their demands. “They should have restrained from blocking roads and staged a peaceful demonstration,” one officer said.
