Sub-Inspectors Santosh Jaiswal and G.D. Bhatt, and constable Ajit Singh were arrested on Tuesday from Nainital where they had gone to seek a pre-arrest bail from the Uttarakhand High Court.

Ranbir Singh, 22, was allegedly gunned down by the police on July 3. The police had said the Ghaziabad man was a criminal and died in a gunfight.

But postmortem report said Singh was shot from a close range and tortured before death. It sparked outrage and forced the government to order a CBI probe.
