They were asked to submit designs for the main entrance of the Kalina campus of the university.

The competition invited innovative designs that would reflect the goal of the university.

“There were several applications of which first 10 were short listed, then five and finally three," said Rajiv Mishra, principal of the college. "It is amazing that our students have got such an opportunity and all of them were very enthusiastic.”

The creators of the final three designs are eagerly awaiting the results.

“My design had the core concept of focus, which is the primary aspect of education. The design is asymmetrical with radiating walls that culminate into a vanishing point inside the campus,” said 20-year-old Zaid Nachan, who along with his batch mate Sachin Porkute, is one of the finalists.

But how long will the gate take to move from the drawing board to the campus? "The designs will now be presented to the works and building committee before a final call is taken," said vice-chancellor Rajan Welukar, who had proposed this competition. "Each design is unique and it inspiring to see the creativity of our students."
