Three militants were on Wednesday killed in two separate encounters with the army in central Assam's Karbi Anglong district and arms recovered from them, defence sources said.
Two militants of the Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF), now on ceasefire, were on Wednesday shot dead when they exchanged fire with the troops at Lohriporbot, under Howraghat police station, they said.
In another encounter at Patadisa, under Bokolia police station, a 'corporal' of a newly formed insurgent outfit Karbi National Peoples Front was killed and a 9-mm US made pistol with ammunition recovered from him, the sources said.
Stating that the ultra was identified as Ridik Hanse, the sources said, he along with 15 others had broken away from the KLNLF in August last to form the new outfit.
